Perdiem are paid for the all 20 days, whether you are in addis or flying. The contract is 20/10 with the option of 25/12 and is signed for 1 to 3 years renewable. the lowest is on 737, the highest on 777. The salary depends on the fleet you are assigned.

But, they charge pretty close to Western prices so, the Expat crews will bring a suitcase of food with them. There are many good places to eat in Addis Ababa - some western, some ethnic. It doesn't cover all the food costs (you don't receive per diem in Addis - only on your trips). Housing allowance in the compensation, will allow you and a few other pilots to rent a house and maid service. Another pilot, "supposedly" is being hired directly into the 787. The one captain started on the B777 and was recently x-trained on the B787. Also, they give you a residency card - if you are paying US taxes, this allows you to defer taxes on the first $97,000 (approx). Ethiopian is supposedly paying salary during training - not for sure.

No one want to say how much they are making currently ( for base pay). Essentially, I have received the same info, you mentioned. The actual base pay is much less.Ī number of pilots at my current employer have left, for Ethiopian. That includes housing allowance (for use in Addis), per diem, etc. This is purely a function of the decisions the passengers make, and the snail's pace at which they move.It's not $175k.

In my latest build, I'm seeing the dawdling passengers causing delays at the gate on the opposite side of my airport from the cafe, but the gate right next to it, just closer to the cafe, sees few delays. If they have a long drive between the station and the gate, a fully loaded plane could be sitting there waiting on bags, driving huge delays because the cars are barely faster than the people. If they are always crowded, build more to reduce wait times.Īlso, keep an eye on your baggage cars. Restrooms should be plentiful around high traffic areas. You may need to scrap the cafe if it can't be moved to a better location. It may be that your people are running to a bathroom or cafe that is out of the way, and then taking their sweet time getting to the gate. You may need more security or ticketing if the bottleneck is there. You may need more agent gates if people are in line on time, but boarding too slowly. You'll need to see the bottleneck to correct it. The only way to combat it for now is to either have more time between flights, or get your people on the flights more quickly. If it doesn't leave til 12:30 PM (instead of noon), your 1:00 flight lands at 1:30 and won't be getting out at 3:00 PM, probably pushing the schedule back even more, and so on until one of your night flights gets cancelled. So if your 9:00 AM flight departs at 9:15, your 10:00 flight won't land until 10:15. The next plane will arrive 15 minutes late, and then any time overrun will cause the next flight to land later. If your planes are going into a negative departure time (-60 minutes or more), and you only have an hour between flights, then there is a good possibility the next plane will cancel.Įven if it's only 15 minutes late leaving, that can have a cascade effect on the rest of your schedule.
